Cyco Thah Urchin, a native of Chicago was raised by his mother who was a single parent. As a small child at the tender age of five, he recounts a story of standing with his hands by his side rocking back and fourth dancing to the sound of his mother’s washing machine.
He had a definite love for music, but it wasn’t until he turned eleven, that he knew he wanted to be an entertainer. Cyco, his brother Deon and their cousins used to beat on his mother’s pots pretending they were a big rap group. He was told by his mother that he had a gift, a special talent that must be used before God took it from him. Soon, Cyco believed in his gift and began diving into his dreams of being an entertainer. Growing up on the west side of Chicago, Cyco spent countless hours listening to his idols L.L. Cool J, Slick Rick, Run DMC, Busta Rhymes, and TK Disco just to name a few. Their music inspired him to take his music career seriously.
A few years later he joined a crew called A.M.N. (A Mob of Ni99as) which led to him getting his first gig. He moved on to acting and secured a role on the silver screen in the movie, “Angel Street” with Robin Givens and the T.V. show called” The Early Edition” which showcased him along with rapper Coolio and actor Tone Loc.
He began performing in talent shows all over Chicago, and it was around that time that he performed at South Side Entertainment’s Talent Showcase in Dolton, IL. Although he didn’t win the showcase that night, he caught the attention of Dana Johnson, owner of the label, South Side Entertainment. He received a call back from Mr. Johnson and soon after, was signed to his first artist deal with South Side Entertainment.
While signed to the label, Cyco won numerous talent shows, and recorded songs with artists like Psycho Drama, Angie, K.M., MC Breed, Maniac MC (Mooka), PMS along with many others. He released his first single called “So Much Pain” featuring Gemini from Men At Large.
A veteran in the rap industry, Cyco has performed and been on concert tickets with groups such as, Goodie Mob, DA Brat, C.O.G., Big Nasty, DA Smart and Mid Knight Thuggzz just to name a few. Years later he moved to Milwaukee. While there, he produced and wrote material for acts like, Get Doe Gurillaz, Lechar, Tajee, Big Boy Steez, Thah Mayor, Dosza and many, many more.
In addition to producing and writing for acts, he has done commercials for Sprite (The Soda company) and Fresh Wear (Clothing Store in Hazel Crest) , D-Roc (Radio Show), J&C Champions (Hair Salon In Minneapolis), Monte Carlo, Tyrone Branch, and he currently has a theme song running on the Jerome Bryant’s Talent Showcase which airs right after Showtime At The Apollo, in Milwaukee. Cyco attended Illinois Center for Broadcasting in Lombard, IL and has also produced and managed his own radio show via internet for hip-hop and R&B.
With the waves he has made in the entertainment industry, and the talent that he possesses, the world is certain to see more from him as he takes his music career to the next level.
